Process
A Human Centered Design Approach
- Step 1: Define
- Step 2: Research
- Step 3: Analysis & Planning
- Step 4: Design
- Step 5: Prototyping
- Step 6: Testing
- Step 7: Launch
- Step 8: Iteration
1. Define
As a hands-on UX Designer, as well as the roles I’ve had as a design manager, I approach app and website design with a user-centric and design thinking approach. This approach helps to balance customer needs and business objectives.
To start, I research the target audience to gain insights into their technology preferences and motivations. User interviews (and sometimes persona creation), inform the next steps of the process.

2. Research
I then move on to developing wireframes (and often, clickable prototypes) that balance the needs of the customer with company objectives. Once a prototype of an appropriate fidelity has been created, usability testing is conducted. Designs are refined based on real-world use cases with user feedback.. The kind of testing used is typically based on the size, scope and/or investment of the product feature being created.
